Affiliate Disclosure

Also known as:FTC DisclosureSponsored Link Disclosure

Definition

An Affiliate Disclosure is a legally required statement that informs audiences when a creator will earn a commission if viewers purchase products or services through the creator's affiliate links. The U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) mandates that affiliate relationships be disclosed clearly and conspicuously — meaning the disclosure must be placed where viewers will actually see it, not buried in descriptions or fine print. Failing to disclose affiliate relationships can result in FTC enforcement actions and damage audience trust. Best practice is to disclose at the beginning of content, in video descriptions, and wherever affiliate links appear.
