Clip

Also known as:Video ClipStream ClipContent Clip

Definition

A short excerpt taken from a longer piece of content — typically a live stream, podcast, or long-form video — and shared as a standalone piece of content on social media or short-form video platforms. Clipping is a core content atomization strategy: a single two-hour live stream can generate dozens of clips that serve as discovery content on TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, and X. Many creators have dedicated clip editors or rely on community members to create and share clips, extending the reach of long-form content significantly beyond the original broadcast audience.
