Definition
An Exclusivity Window is the defined period during which a creator is contractually prohibited from working with competing brands or creating content about competing products. Exclusivity windows are a standard component of brand deal contracts and are typically negotiated as part of the DEAL Framework (Deliverables, Exclusivity, Ambassador/Amplification, Licensing). The length and scope of an exclusivity window directly affects its price — broader exclusivity (covering an entire product category) and longer windows (six months or more) command significantly higher fees. Creators should carefully evaluate exclusivity clauses to ensure the compensation reflects the opportunity cost of turning down competing partnerships during the exclusivity period.
