FPO

Also known as:for position onlyplaceholder image

Definition

FPO (For Position Only) is a design and print production term indicating that an image, graphic, or placeholder element is included in a layout to show size, position, and proportion, but will be replaced with the final asset before production or publication. FPO images are typically low-resolution or watermarked versions used during the design review and approval process. For creators working with designers, printers, or production teams, understanding FPO notation prevents confusion about which assets are final and which are placeholders awaiting replacement.
