Intrinsic Motivation

Also known as:Internal DrivePassion-Driven Creation

Definition

The drive to create that comes from internal satisfaction, curiosity, and personal meaning — as opposed to extrinsic motivation, which is driven by external rewards like views, money, or validation. Intrinsic motivation is the most sustainable fuel for a long-term creator career. Creators who are primarily motivated by external metrics are vulnerable to the emotional volatility of those metrics — a bad week of views can feel catastrophic. Creators who are intrinsically motivated continue creating even when the external signals are discouraging.
