Definition
A Liability Waiver is a legal document in which one party agrees to release another from legal responsibility for specified risks, injuries, or damages. In the creator economy, liability waivers are commonly used when filming content involving physical activities, events, or locations where injury or property damage could occur. Brands and event organizers may also require creators to sign liability waivers as a condition of participation. While liability waivers can limit legal exposure, they are not absolute — courts may refuse to enforce waivers that cover gross negligence or intentional misconduct. Creators should consult an attorney before signing broad liability waivers.
