Moderator (Streaming)

Also known as:modchat modstream mod

Definition

A streaming moderator (mod) is a trusted community member who monitors and manages a live stream chat in real time. Mods enforce community guidelines, remove spam and hate speech, time out or ban disruptive users, and help manage viewer interactions during high-traffic streams. On Twitch, mods are identified by a green sword icon. On YouTube Live, they appear with a wrench icon. Effective moderation is essential for maintaining a healthy, inclusive stream environment and protecting the creator's brand reputation.
