Definition
Content deliberately designed to provoke outrage, anger, or moral indignation in order to drive engagement through emotional reactivity rather than genuine value. Rage bait exploits platform algorithms that reward high engagement rates regardless of content quality or sentiment. While effective at generating short-term metrics, rage bait erodes audience trust, attracts low-quality engagement, and creates reputational risk for creators who rely on it as a primary strategy.
