Definition
Re-Watch Rate is a metric that measures the percentage of viewers who watch a video more than once, or the frequency with which specific segments of a video are replayed. On YouTube's Audience Retention graph, re-watch spikes (where the line goes above 100%) indicate moments that viewers found so valuable or entertaining that they replayed them. A high overall Re-Watch Rate is a strong positive signal to the algorithm, indicating that the content is highly engaging and worth recommending to new audiences. Tutorials, how-to videos, and dense information-rich content tend to have higher re-watch rates than entertainment content.
