Total Addressable Market

Definition

The total potential audience size for a creator's niche — the maximum number of people who could realistically be interested in the content. In creator strategy, understanding Total Addressable Market (TAM) is essential for evaluating whether a niche has enough demand to support a sustainable channel. A niche with a very small TAM may be too narrow to grow beyond a certain point, while a niche with a massive TAM may be too competitive without strong differentiation. Roberto Blake includes TAM as one of the 15 Creator Fundamentals because it directly informs decisions about niche selection, content strategy, and monetization potential. The goal is to find a niche with a TAM large enough to be viable but specific enough to be ownable.
