Definition
A Trademark is a legally registered symbol, word, phrase, logo, or design that identifies and distinguishes the source of goods or services from those of others. For creators and media brands, trademarks protect channel names, show titles, logos, and slogans from being used by competitors in a way that could confuse audiences. Unlike copyright, trademark protection must be actively maintained and enforced — failure to police unauthorized use can result in losing trademark rights. Registering a trademark with the USPTO (in the U.S.) provides stronger legal protection and the right to use the ® symbol.
